How did 10KSB help you?
It helped pave a foundation into running a small, successful business with a broader insight into my operations. It provided me with a knowledge base to understand my finances, and it moved me towards working ON the business instead of IN the business.
Tell us about a challenge you’ve faced in your business.
The pandemic and the last 2 years and how it effected our business from going 100% remote, to operating with so many unknowns, and relying on resources and funding to keep us afloat. The 10KSB knowledge and resources were a great support system during the pandemic. We continued to pivot as the landscape evolved and being able to rely on the government funding was essential. 10KSB was there to advise and help us through the loan process amongst being able to tap into the community of small business owners, and Goldman Sachs influence. Truthfully, the training from the course better prepared me for the business storm we faced during these times.
What do you enjoy about being a small business owner?
The ability to make a direct impact with companies — In a larger corporation, you're just another cog in a wheel and at times, your ideas never see the light of day. Corporate structures tend to have to many layers that slow down the innovation process. As an entrepreneur, you're more agile, quick to market, with the ability to help our customers with solutions that meet their business goals.
Since graduating from the 10KSB Program, is there an accomplishment or goal you’re particularly proud of achieving?
I'm proud that I am implementing my growth plan. I am seeing it come to life through the roll-out of my operational processes and selling more digital marketing services. This was the growth plan developed in 2019 which was interrupted due to the pandemic. Since then, we revised it after the GS "Back to Class" refresher course last summer. Our first quarter earnings more than doubled (YoY). We are already surpassing our aspirational sales goal and may potentially double our 2022 revenue.
